I’m Kroi, and I had the honor of composing the opening theme for *Steel Ball Run: JoJo’s Bizarre
Adventure*.
When I was first approached about this project, I was so excited I practically jumped for
joy.
From there, I went through a lot of trial and error as I worked on the track, trying to figure
out how to express the epic world of *Steel Ball Run*—a race across the North American
continent—through music.
We’ve been creating songs with a sandy theme for several years now, and I thought we could put
the sensibilities we’ve cultivated through that experience to good use this time as well.
Centered around a sound reminiscent of Ennio Morricone and The Ventures—which evokes Westerns—we
finished this track by blending in various musical styles we’ve explored over the years, such as
funk, soul, and hip-hop.
I feel a personal connection to the unique and one-of-a-kind world of *JoJo*, born from the
intersection of various cultures.
I’m truly delighted to have been able to participate in this wonderful project.

Kroi is s five-piece band from Japan known for their genre-blending sound, merging R&B,
funk, soul, rock, and hip-hop.
Formed in 2018, they made their major debut in 2021 with the album LENS.
In January 2026, they held their first arena tour at Osaka-jo Hall and Yoyogi National
Gymnasium No. 1, drawing a total audience of approximately 20,000 people.
They have appeared at major Japanese festivals including FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL and SUMMER
SONIC, while also performing at international showcases and festivals such as SXSW (USA),
The Great Escape (UK), Busan International Rock Festival (Korea), and CAT EXPO (Taiwan). In
2025, they successfully completed their first Asia tour, visiting Seoul, Taipei, and
Bangkok.
They have also collaborated with opening themes for globally popular anime titles including
SAKAMOTO DAYS, SAND LAND: THE SERIES, Under Ninja and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: STEEL
BALL RUN. Not only anime, they have collaborated with UK jazz-funk legend Incognito, with
“Kinetic" and expanding their music internationally.
